I do have to pay upfront at the dentist (and the shrink). Those are the two places where I pay upfront and am reimbursed after.

The insurance is automatically deducted when I buy my meds, for instance. And, of course, I never have to pay anything for medical services (anything that involves a meeting with a doctor or a stay in the hospital, etc.)

How fast, or slow, does reimbursement usually come?

It's great if you need medical help, it's available without having to not go get it, because you can't afford it.

So, my mother found a place, where we used to go get our hair cut, where the cost is only $15. I am so going there. I think I will cancel my appointment at my regular stylist, which is next week. It costs $32 plus tip there. Her hair turned out great, too.

The speed of reimbursements depend. At the dentist, it's fairly quick because they "file" the request themselves online. So the insurance company gets it quickly. I expect to be reimbursed within the coming week.

With the shrink, it is longer, because he gives me paper receipts (and not every visit) and I have to send those by mail. So it takes longer, but no more than two or three weeks.

That's a great find, in terms of an affordable hair dresser! I really to have my hair cut and the "usual" place I go to has closed. Of course, other things have taken priority for me.

Oh that's great. I was equating to the US services, and expecting it to be months. I'm glad to hear that.

Maybe that's the difference having universal health care makes? I have no idea.

It'll come in handy, though. I still need to figure out presents for Christmas and that November shopping trip.

^ great things for you.

Sunny, those things are coming up so fast.

I thought about saving for CD's, to make music CD's from my computer. I decided to stick with saving for the printer inks and paper instead. I always listen to music from You Tube. I have hundreds of CD's I never touch.

I guess what I'm figuring out is, if I wait a while, I learn what I want the most.

That's very wisely done, Kim. And that's great news, Leanne.

I'm trying to do better with my spending.

Yes, the clothes available in the shops are so limited, rarely is anything ever to my satisfaction. I prefer to chose my own materials and patterns and have things made exactly to my specifications and to fit perfect. I don't want clothes made to fit millions of people, I want clothes specially made for me.

True highend custom clothes from a worldclass tailor are really big bucks, so it means some clothes will be made by a worldclass tailoring legend while other items will be made by a midend tailor.

I'd love to have a worldclass tailor make all my clothes, but l can't afford it, so l get the top tailor to make my best items and get two other tailors to make other items. A pair of wool trousers made by a really top tailor run about $1,500 these days, so yes, using a great tailor is very costly, but it is so worth it because you get masterpieces.

It definitely does.

So, for the first time ever-I went online and check our grocery store ad. I made a list, put the prices on it, and completely stuck to that list. A whole new world for me.

Welcome to my world, Kim.

Looking at those circulars, you get to spot how "little" you can pay for a given item. It helps motivate me to wait a while sometimes, when I can afford to and when it's worth it.

You also get to see how certain specials will come back every other week or so.

It's freeing. To me, anyway.
